The first few years of a child’s life are some of the most important. At Angels we understand how important it is to ensure that all children are reaching the appropriate milestones and are receiving the correct support to do so. This is why we follow the statutory requirement, of the Early Years Foundation Stage, that every child between 2 and 3 has a Two Year Check.
A Two Year Check is an assessment which carries a main focus on the 3 Prime Areas of learning: Communication and Language; Personal, Social and Emotional Development; Physical Development. Your child’s teacher will be assessing your child on these 3 Areas, so that they can identify if your child may need some extra support to reach their goals. Their teacher may also contact you to gather some information about what your child is like at home and to gain your input into what you want your child’s goals to be. Once the Two Year Check has been completed, it will be available for you to access on your child’s Tapestry Journal.
You may have also been contacted by your child’s Health Visitor to set up a Two Year review with them and they may have asked you to complete an Ages and Stages Questionnaire. Completing the Ages and Stages Questionnaire may seem a bit daunting at first but you are more than welcome to contact us for any guidance or support with this. If you haven’t been contacted by your Health Visiting Team – do not fret! Due to COVID, it is our understanding that appointments have been delayed. However, once your Two Year review is set up, please let your child’s teacher know as it is crucial to ensure that parents and professionals are all working together to support the child’s future learning and development.
If you have any questions about your child’s Two Year check or any concerns about their
development, feel free to contact us at Angels and we will be more than happy to help.
